In the past few months, there have been a number of new clans that have started within the community, a person cannot help but be excited about the new prospects. What is great about the clan scene is that it rewards the entrepreneur. Anybody who has the motivation and dedication to start a new clan in the community can. With the clan scene changing continually, it’s time to be a bit hypothetical. With all the new clans, what were to happen if a perfect clan leader were built out of characteristics from current players on the site? But how do we determine that? Let’s go to the field!

A panel of nine players, whom will remain nameless, were asked to say who the best person is at five characteristics. Below you will find the five characteristics, a short definition, as well as the stipulations based on the votes.

Intelligence:

The need for this is simple. A clan leader must be smart. They must be able to see opportunities within the community, create great ideas to make the clan better, and there’s no doubt that a smart person is much more respected than a stupid person. Sorry, but it’s true. Intelligence is essential to the success of a clan leader.

Charisma:

Charisma is an invaluable tool for a clan leader to have. Charisma is the ability to create respect within the community. Often times, very charismatic people can work with anybody. Conversely, people will often join a clan solely on the charisma of the leader rather than the characteristics of the clan itself. This is something that is hard to measure so it’s important that we get our results straight from the community.

Experience:

This is a no-brainer. A leader has to be experienced in the many facets of clans, success and failure. They must be able to avoid pitfalls, and know how to work the system in order to keep their clans going. Often times, the downfall of a new clan can be tied to the lack of experience of the leader. No offense to newer leaders, but people who have been around the block a few times have a higher likelihood of success.

Devotion:

This can be as important as putting your clan ahead of your own personal goals and ambitions. If you ask a person what they’d rather win, a Clan Wars or an SE, the person who answers Clan Wars is invariably somebody who has a clear amount of devotion to their clan and to its members.

Skill:

It has never been proven that great players can make great clans, but since this is a hypothetical experiment, it can’t hurt. The panel was asked to name the player who brings the skill to the table. This clan leader can not only make a great clan, they can be a go-to-guy when it comes to Clan Wars and you need a win.

Stipulations:

The stipulations are simple. Each person is not allowed to vote for themselves and they may not vote for one person more than once. In the experience category, players must be current players. Like I said, very simple.

Without wasting any time, let’s get to the results. A player that receives more than one vote has their number in parenthesis.

Intelligence: Paradox, Shuriken(4), Dalamar(3), Nimloth

Charisma: Grat, Addy, Kaus Debonair(2), Freya, FeelingLucky, Soujiro, Edgy, Shuriken

Experience: Kamikaze(2), Kaus Debonair(4), Seif, Seto, Delial

Devotion: Shuriken(4), Kamikaze, Dalamar(2), Grat, MafiJosie

Skill: Kaus Debonair, Delial(3), Kamikaze, Seto(2), Mette, Starscream.

Analysis:

The quick assumption would be that if you combine the intelligence and devotion of Shuriken with the experience and charisma of Kaus Debonair and the skill of Delial, you’ve got the best clan leader, right? Well, this is only a survey. Sure, this is pretty fun, but you can see from the results here the capability that the site has in its clan leadership skills.

The whole point of this was to silence the critics about the decline of the clan scene and the ability that is there. Sure, one can make the argument the fact that there aren’t nearly as many active players as there used to be. However, the clan scene is much more top-heavy than it used to be. On TT.com, and TTX, there were only a few really dominant clans that were on top and everybody knew about. Everybody else was lost in the shuffle because they just weren’t as good. Today, you need both hands to count the number of really quality clans on the site. The distribution is much better and that makes for a better clan scene.

I hope you guys enjoyed this article. It wasn’t meant to be partisan saying that Shuriken, myself, and Delial would make the best clan ever. It was more meant to show the large amount of leadership talent that exists on this community. If the three mentioned were the best and nobody else, wouldn’t they have gotten all the votes?
