TT.ca: The Inside Scoop
Written by: Brise
So what is TT.ca, people have been asking me. www.tripletriad.ca is the new member of the family, along with TTA, TTN, and of course TTQ. The site is the hybrid result of the experience and stubborn insistence about how things should be of myself, and the experience, coding magic and ideas of Nimloth.
For the readers of the newsletter, I have thrown together a list of some of the features I feel make TT.ca an exciting addition to the family.
Game balance is being thoroughly examined, so it won't be so difficult for new players to start up, as there is going to be a lot less chance of them playing their first game, only to be greeted by a wall of 77 cards on level 5.
Points per game will actually be awarded on the basis of skill of Player A compared to skill of Player B, by internal tables ranking every single player at their level of skill in open and closed separately. So you will get more points for beating better players, and less for taking on new players constantly. This means it will be time to take on those titans of the TT world.
The focus is no longer collecting all the cards, while it is an admirable and rewarding pursuit to some, I would much rather a game that helps players to improve, and increase their level of skill. Additionally some cards are now upgradeable, examples of upgrade chains appear at the top and bottom of this article. So you will be able to change Card A into Card B if you meet the criteria. This will help change the focus of the game, to collect the decks you now must increase your level of skill to upgrade cards.
The site will have multiple languages, as many as people are willing to translate for the site. This will allow TT.ca to actively look for
new members, and untapped Triple Triad fans that have missed out so far because they don't speak English. So there hopefully will be a lot less of that waiting between games. This will also enable TT.ca to actively look to do link exchanges with sites that are not
English based.
There will be new gameboards, to suit various people's personal preferences. There will be the traditional TTA style gameboard which
I feel is a true classic, then of course the FF8 style gameboard for the nostalgic within, if you are at work, or on a really slow connection, there is always the text only version, which should be interesting to say the least. Next there will be the jazzed up one,
which will just ooze class as it's the one I intend to personally use. Finally there is a bonus board, which not even I know
about, however I do expect big things from it.
TT.ca will have integrated tournaments, as in, instead of having to create the ruleset, which although it is no great task, is something people often whine about or get wrong. To help improve this situation, the goal is to make the tourneys integrated, with a click of a button it will automatically create the tournament rules for you.
The lottery is being replaced with a wishing well, so you don't need to wait a week to win. You can enter and be rewarded immediately
if it's your lucky day. There are two mischievous beings living in the well, one who doesn't particularly like giving things away, and his incompetent assistant who gives away a whole lot. I strongly recommend once that feature is available rushing to the well as soon as you see the assistant is attending.
Clans will no longer struggle so hard to be active. Clan accounts will receive points to spend on events on the basis of activity. And after logging into a clan account, leaders will be able to use an almost quest style clan leader panel. People within the clan will get their own log-in, and be able to use features specified by the clan leader.
Finally, the Card Palace is being replaced with an eBay style Auction House, where clan leaders will have the option of discounting cards for their clan members if they win an auction.
To sum it up, I am very excited about the prospect of TT.ca, and look forward to seeing what the future brings.
