Player of the Month
By: Kaus Debonair
This section is going to be TBA with an asterisk. It’s going to be your call as to the fate of this section.
Kamikaze has done the “Who’s Hot?” article in months to talk about people who are playing well and to give them recognition for quality play. In a recent TTA meeting, the idea of a Player of the Month was brought up. The concept is very simple. Whomever writes this article would determine who the player of the month would be based on recent performance in tournaments like FFA, TW, etc. However, there was an interesting idea thrown out into the mix. Somebody mentioned that the player of the month candidates were the only ones that would be eligible for player of the year in the TTAwards. Another idea that was thrown out there was the concept that it would be the player of the month recipients as well as a couple of extra choices by the community to make it fair for everybody. This idea has a number of pros and cons.
Pros:
- Nominations are done by me since I’ll likely write this article and I’m pretty unbias.
- I’ll never receive this honor so nominating myself is not an issue.
- Voting will be more based on merit due to reasoning from one person, rather than the traditional popularity contest it has been depicted on occasion.
- 12 months will ensure that people won’t get left out.
Cons:
- Puts a lot of power into one person’s hands, despite my promises in the pros.
- People can be nominated more than once, making it difficult to qualify.
- May not completely eliminate the flaws of TTAwards.
- Untested.
So, once again, please make your opinions heard in the forums. A separate thread may be started for this specific topic if there is enough interest. I wanted to ensure that everybody had a chance to speak their piece on this before I ran with it. Ultimately, Balz will have the final decision, but he is very good about listening to the community. This segment may continue if you like it even if it gets voted down as part of the TTAwards.
