A Second Opinion on Clans   Table of Contents   Strategist's Hideout

What designates one clan better than another? After trying to find an opinion from members of their respective clans for doing this article I realized that it's really not that easy to decide. First and foremost I consider activity to be the most important asset to a clan. If there is no activity there is no clan. Some clans in the past may have been focused on skilled players rather than activity, but that clan still must be active in order to compete. Other things also factor in to make one clan stand out before others. Skill, innovation, dedication of leaders all are contributing factors to what makes a good clan great. Many clans are formed but few succeed, the following is a list of clans that have succeded in one way or another.

10-8. There is no 10th, 9th or 8th. As I see it, activity is the most important factor in becoming a good clan. From what I saw, no clan really seemed to have that other than those listed below. You should see it as an open invitation to get better, challenge yourself and strive to become the best.

7. Clan X is active. From what it seemed to me, there is a lot of improvement that can be made to this clan. I don't know much about the dedication of the leader myself, but he always appears to be well-invested in the clan. They are all friends and have fun with it.

6. Shugenja surprised me with how active it really is. From what I saw from a distance, it always seemed rather dead to me but the membership certainly disagreed. I spent some time in their clan chat and it was bustling with activity just to back up what the membership said. Hard work has really paid off for them.

5. Avalanche seems to be constantly having new things to keep its membership active. For awhile, they went through quite a long drought, but from the people I've talked to they really enjoy the constant things the leadership give them to do, as such with some recruiting binges, activity has really picked up and people are enjoying themselves.

4. Triple Triad Trinity is next on the list. They have been around for quite some time ever since Bahamut's Lagoon, The Jelly Clan, and Fallen Guardians merged. I cannot think of another clan that has lasted for so long from a merger. Most always seem to collapse shortly afterwards. I have always been of the opinion that this is one of the best clans for those that have always been around TTA for only a short time to join. They do not really care about how well you are at Triple Triad or anything like that. They are just out to have a good time. The members all seem really close to me; a very tight-knit group.

3. Zodiac Braves make number three on the list. For years, they have been a leading contender in any clan event in which they enter. They are also quite active, despite being primarily based on skill. The recent change to the one-clan rule certainly hurt their membership, but the people that stayed remain active and the chat room gets plenty of activity from so few. The reason they do not make it up higher is the current lack of things within the clan to do. It has always been, for the most part, based on events that involve other clans rather than just its own.

2. Devas was a clan that, when I started this article, I had intended for to be either third or fourth. After talking with some of the members and looking things over, they changed that opinion. They have got a good base of skill in the clan, along with a dedicated leadership and activity from members. What little they lack in skill, they make up for in having a good time. The group themselves are all close, all of them get along with one another and avoid any controversy or complaints that many other clans on this list have had at one time or another.

1. Triforce gets the honor as the number one clan on my list. They fit all requirements for what makes a great clan. From what I have seen, they have been the most consistently active, and one of the most dedicated leaders I have had the pleasure of seeing. Shuriken is constantly changing things up and trying to find ways for the members to get more active and involved in the clan, whether they play TTA or not. There is a multitude of different things for players to do, such as graphics, boggle, etc. that can keep anyone occupied for ages. Over the last year, their membership has grown considerably and old members are becoming even more active. Everyone is friends with everyone else in the clan.

If you're not on the list, how can you get on it? For one thing, I think a lot of these clans needed more for the clan to do to contribute to the clan, rather than just being active. That is what makes Triforce stand out as I see it. They are constantly changing things up and always looking for ways to get their members more invested into the clan. If you are a member, you are far more likely to stay. There is always something you can do to help the clan as a whole. I was told a lot when asking about how pretty much everyone gets along with everyone else and that should be true just to be a clan. Members should always be tight-knit and loyal to the clan. But remember, you are always supposed to have fun with it first and foremost.
