Post subject:  Chat commands.

Recently more people have been comming into chat, so I thought of making a short list of commands for chat so you new guys don't have to ask us every 5 mins.

1. Change nick- Type /nick (New name here) DON'T type the ()'s.
2. Ignore- /ignore nick
3. Register your nick- /nickserv register password e-mail
4. Register a channel- /chanserv register channel password description (The description is just a short sentence saying something like "Where all your dreams come true" or whatever.) NOTE: Your nick also needs to be registered before registering a channel, and you must be in the channel with an op (@)
5. Kick- /Kick channel nick (Add message or reason if you want)
6. Ban- /ban channel nick (Add message or reason if you want)
7. Op- /mode Channel +o nick
8. deOp- /mode Channel -o nick
9. Voice- /mode channel +v nick
10. DeVoice- /mode channel -v nick
NOTE FOR 7-10: You can set modes for more than one user by adding the same number of o/v's and all the nicks. ie: /mode #Sage +ooo Sage Namingway TNBT
11. Quit- /quit (Message here if you want)
12. For more help with channel control- /chanserv help
13. For more help with nickname control- /nickserv help
14. Grouping multiple nicknames to a registered nickname. (In other words, you don't have to register a second or third nickname anymore) - /nickserv group nick password [NOTE: For "nick" you have to type in the nickname that IS already registered. Then the "password" is the password you used when you registered said nickname. ALSO the name you want to group you HAVE to be using when using this command. Example: Sage wants to use the name Fafnir so first he changes his name to Fafnir then types /nickserv group Sage xxxxxxxx and there ya go. Nickserv will tell you grouping was successful. You'll still have to identify with Nickserv when using the new nick.

There are more, but I'm not sure about the autoOp/voice/halfop commands... So someone who does know feel free to post.

Nemo here, for autoOp, voice, commands:
14. For auto-op on entry- /msg Chanserv aop channel add nick
15. For auto-halfop on entry- /msg Chanserv hop channel add nick
16. For auto-voice on entry- /msg Chanserv vop channel add nick
17. To see the list of auto-status on entry- /msg Chanserv Access Channel list
18. To send private messages to other users- /msg nick message

Well, the IRC command for changing the topic is:
19. /topic Channel text

However, I'm not sure if the java client is capable of supporting it.

It's normally pretty dead in there when I pop in these days but maybe a few of us can liven it up...

I use Mibbit to get there these days, the java link on the main page doesn't work for a lot of people now.

www.mibbit.com
"Launch Mibbit Client" (no need to register with mibbit)
Enter server as server.ttadvance.ca
Channel is #ttadvance
Nick is your username

And you can start enjoying idling with Deli and the bot in no time :D

Why?

Discord is proprietary software, and is primarily intended for voice chat.

Why?

Easy for people to access in a browser without any need for commands or any other shit, has a standalone app, can manage multiple servers very easily, very easy to set different roles for donators etc, easy to set privileges so that only people with a certain role (clan etc) can use specific text channels. Moderation is easy.

I'm on like 8 discord servers and I hardly ever voice, including servers with 150+ people online at a time and there is hardly anyone using voice.

Discord is just becoming very popular and most of the people that I know from all different kinds of places (cs, irl, reddit communities) are all moving to discord and it makes it super easy because you can be connected to them all at once and just flick through the servers. Honestly, I don't think it will make that much of a difference anyway because I'm guessing that people don't really use tta IRC that much anyway.
